The trouble with Brittany is...Brittany herself!

She's crude, crass and curvaceous...and, medically speaking, she's firmly planted on the road to self-destruction. Not exactly the ideal dinner guest, nor flat-mate, nor friend, nor employee.

So, as the title [ridiculously] reveals, Brittany is on-course for a physical epiphany...and, with crossed fingers, she will tackle all of her other issues...there's a mountain of them. But, and she does have a big butt, the film seems to suggest...lose weight, get fit, run...and everything else will slot nicely into place! Well...if that - truly - is the case...every public park [in the world] would be chock-a-block with fat runners! Ooops...we used the 'F' word! Why has the word 'fat' become so toxic? If a doctor says "you are fat" - it's not body-shaming, it's a fact!

There's a fine line between preaching and moralising...as many have said, Brittany is inspiring. Inspirational, my bum! Brittany is a cruel, self-righteous, self-centred, callous cow [just some of her issues]...it's either her way or no way...and, she spits venom at those closest to her.

But, hey...she runs a marathon and everything is tickety-boo, smelling of roses, hunky dory...it's the metaphorical equivalent of this modern day's bizarre phenomena...when a celeb/politician says/tweets/texts something ridiculous/malicious/offensive and [after their publicist goes absolutely ape-sh*t], they rapidly follow it with an [unreserved] apology...uttering "I'm sorry" and all is forgiven! C'mon!

Look...if you don't want to delve into the darker side of obesity, Brittany may entertain, it certainly has with those gullible enough to swallow the faux inspiration. But...let's be loud and clear, the gravity of the world's obesity problem cannot be solved by running alone...as this 'inspirational' [my bum] film suggests.

The(ir) Blurb...

Brittany Forgler is a funny, likeable, 27-year-old hot mess of a New Yorker whose trashy nightclub adventures and early-morning walks of shame make her late for work every day. But when she stops by a Yelp-recommended doctor’s office in an attempt to score Adderall, Brittany finds herself slapped with a diagnosis: elevated heart rate, high blood pressure, and yes… obesity. Suddenly forced to get a grip, Brittany laces up her Converse sneakers and runs one sweaty block. The next day, she runs two. Soon she runs a mile. Brittany finally has direction—but is she on the right path?
