Latino Beginnings follows three gay, Latino, young people as they overcome barriers to acceptance in their community. The documentary explores what it means to be Gay and Latino for Marisol, Jesse and Gustavo. Gustavo is a female impersonator in Miami. Jesse is a candidate for president of his student body in a university in the small town of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Marisol is a paratrooper who is about to come out to her mom.
