CGiii Comment

To Ella, most adults are boring. But not Uncle Tommy, who is always pleased to see her and exudes an upbeat, carefree approach to their time together. When her parents go abroad, Ella runs away to her uncle’s, but hasn’t factored in the arrival of Tommy’s new boyfriend, Steve. Instead of accepting Steve’s offer of friendship, Ella feels jealous of the time and attention Uncle Tommy directs towards him, and plots a campaign of tricks that involve rats, dyed hair and even a fart machine. There’s nothing Ella won’t do to have her uncle all to herself. This fun family comedy highlights the familiarity of feeling excluded from a new relationship; if only all children had an Uncle Tommy in their life, things would be so much better.
