YÉN is a feminist short film by Julia Diep My Feige and deals with society's over-romanticization and idealization within the Vietnamese Confucianism-based society. Yén is an unusual young woman and looks neither really feminine nor Vietnamese. Since moving to Hanoi to study, she has been striving to navigate life autonomously and self-determined. Soon is Lunar New Year and she still has no boyfriend to introduce to her pushy mother. To finally meet society's demands and ideals, she finally gets involved with an old acquaintance..
