Enter the weird and wild world of Troy Davies. Artist and performer, provocateur, and chameleon, Peter Vanessa "Troy" Davies charmed his way through a lifetime of fame. art, secrets, HIV, abuse, and gender fluidity to become a key figure in Melbourne’s pop and queer cultures.
From his collaborations with Michael Hutchence of INXS and Bono of U2, to drug addiction and prostitution, Davies’ life is as heartbreaking as it is morbidly fascinating. This documentary returns to his life and asks loved ones, friends, and colleagues the impossible question: just who was Troy Davies? As more and more conflicting facts about his life are revealed and interspersed with footage of Davies himself, we can only conclude that he is an outspoken, complicated, difficult subject, and an important part of our community’s history. As Bono remarks: "It was pretty full-on to be led a dance by Troy. He could just shapeshift into somebody else. That was part of his art form." This documentary will take you on the wild ride that is Troy Davies and leave you fascinated and wanting more from start to finish.
