CGiii Comment

What would happen if LOVE SIMON and THE BABADOOK had a film child? Chicago-based filmmakers Colby Holt and Sam Probst have an answer. In this fresh retelling of the classic coming-of-age story, the son of a small-town politician develops a crush on his openly gay classmate. While his feelings grow and take hold, he begins to be stalked by a mysterious creature and he finds his body and mind under attack. This off-the-wall Southern Gothic revival creatively addresses the dangers of repression, intense familial pressure, and the ways in which attitudes have both stagnated and shifted regarding queerness in the modern South.
