Makun (no Llores) - Dibujos en Un Cie

Country: Spain, Language: Spanish, 30 mins

  • Director: Emilio Martí López
  • Writer: Emilio Martí López

CGiii Comment

Immigrant Detention Centers (IDCs) in Spain are kept apart from public opinion: these jails for innocent people, locked up without having committed any crime, are real black holes of Human Rights in Europe. MAKUN animates the thousands of drawings found on the walls of an IDC (in the Canary Islands) adding the oral testimony of three immigrants, to talk about dreams (of a better life) and nightmares (the journey and confinement in these centers), and about the lullabies with which they put us to sleep (Makun makun, baby, don't cry anymore) claiming, though, that we need to wake up and demand the fulfillment of Human Rights.
