“Now We Can Dance” tells the heartwarming story of how Horizon Services Lambda Youth Group, a support group for LGBT youth, became inspired to organize, in 1995, one of the first gay proms in the country in Hayward, California. Convinced that LGBT youth needed a safe place to experience one of the milestones of youth, an ad hoc coalition of students, teachers, community activists, elected officials, church leaders, and police officers battled a backlash of homophobia to win funding and support for this now-beloved annual event.
