CGiii Comment
The ubiquitous Benedict Cumberbatch updates Sherlock...giving him an edge like no other...as a high functioning sociopath.
The subtext is applied generously with a shovel - even if the 'hobbit' declares - categorically - that he's not gay!!! Yeah...right!
It's a novel approach to a worn-out character...however, without Cumberbatch it would flounder and fail.
Hugely entertaining.

The(ir) Blurb...
In this modernized version of the Conan Doyle characters, using his detective plots, Sherlock Holmes lives in early 21st century London and acts more cocky towards Scotland Yard's detective inspector Lestrade because he's actually less confident. Doctor Watson is now a fairly young veteran of the Afghan war, less adoring and more active.
