It all depends on whether you take 'haute couture' seriously...

2014, the year that saw - foolishly - two films about YSL...

The references to the handsome-ness of YSL is mind-boggling - he was not an attractive man...his money was...perhaps, even his talent.

As you would expect from a film about fashion-ism, it's very stylish...but, lacking...in pace, glamour and substance.

If these 'scenes' are the highlights of YSL's life - then, he was a very dull individual indeed...and, according to this film, a rather pathetic man.

The unnecessary voice-over - by Berge - is a sentimental annoyance. The party excesses, too numerous and, frankly, unnecessary.

Joy-less, life-less - a disappointing portrait of a man who changed the world of fashion.

He deserved better.
