CGiii Comment

Homo-erotic tension amid an unrequited love - not the description that critics attributed to this woefully ignored film.

This is football hooliganism without, thankfully, the football.

Beautifully filmed and, faultlessly acted - no big names and a few debuts.

A soundtrack that will take those of a certain age back to Thatcher's Britain - brilliantly realised in washed out tones.

Awaydays is a fine example of the British film industry failing its fine technicians - this should have had a general cinematic release.

A damn fine film.

The(ir) Blurb...

On the Wirral in the grim early years of Margaret Thatcher's premiership, the opportunities for thrill seeking young men looking to escape 9 to 5 drudgery are what they've always been: sex, drugs, rock n' roll, fashion, football and fighting.
