CGiii Comment
Do not be duped by what has been said [by some imaginative writers] about the homosexual subtext contained within this plotless film...there is none!
Do not be duped into thinking that this film is swamped with homo-eroticism...it - most certainly - is bone dry of any eroticism whatsoever!
There is no story...for some, of a certain age, it may strike a nostalgic, resonant chord...but, apart from a few excessive drinking bouts, the horrible-hormone rampage and some horrid-hairdos...nothing actually happens!
All the characters are caricatures...the boy-next-door, the adorable-dope, the narcissist, the psycho...but, they don't do anything apart from drink and bonk...as all young adults do when they experience 'freedom for the first time! The only problem is...Linklater manages to inject little humour into the proceedings. Their hormones maybe raging...but, the audience has just flatlined!
As for the LGBT content...read the GLAAD report below...

The(ir) Blurb...
In 1980, a group of college baseball players navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.
While many headlines came out of this film’s release about the homoerotic subtext and male gaze being turned on male bodies, there was not actually any sincere queer content in this 1980-set college baseball comedy. The film includes a party scene in which star player Roper kisses a girl, and then encourages her to kiss the girl next to her. While the two go along with it, the scene was played to be purely at his suggestion rather than out of any desire on either of the women’s parts. At the same party, a group of performing arts students put on an Alice in Wonderland-themed sketch of The Dating Game. A male student portrayed the Queen of Hearts and, as part of the sketch, hit on another male bachelor. GLAAD did not count any of these characters in its final tally.
Certain media outlets did 'hype' this film as 'unintentionally gay' - whatever that means!?! So, of course, we were going to watch this...whether GLAAD mentioned it or not!
