CGiii Comment

A few big issues...mainly, coming out [as gay] to your wife [and children]...then, embarking on an inter-racial [gay] relationship.

This is fairly typical rom-not-so-com stuff...with all the usual gets-the-guy, loses-the-guy sort of stuff...accompanied by one major complication: The wife. Is she for the 'keep' or the 'dump'? Ripe for an emotional eruption or two. Sounds serious, doesn't it? Well...the film is and it isn't....and that's the problem. Doug Spearman couldn't make up his mind which way to go...so, he settled [precariously] on-the-fence.

When he does go into serious terrain...it's like a steam-roller. Way too preachy and obvious, it's almost as if it's a different film entirely! Then...it snaps back into a cheese-tinged romance.

The actors do a fairly decent job with what they were given...however, it's just a bit too soap-opera-ish to leave a lasting impression.

Strictly for those who prefer light fayre than to a lavish [emotional] feast!
