Before and after the birth of his son, the teacher, assistant set designer and aspiring actress Mariela dreams about playing the role of Isabella in the Shakespeare’s comedy Measure for measure. She goes to an audition, she studies the script, she gets help from a mysterious woman, and in the meantime she wanders through city and country and through present and past, in order to learn to not sabotage herself, to give the best of her and to go over the difficulties of theatre as well as of life.

Piñeiro surveys the timeless mystery that runs between action and interpretation, building up a strict, essential, and yet vital and very human movie. The face of his habitué actress, María Villar, is the pivot and the magnet of his directorial eye, as well as the first instrument to navigate within the allusive and engaging journey inside Mariela’s life.
