CGiii Comment

Although each scene is beautifully photographed...they all go on for far too long.

The director - obviously - forgot to shout: Cut!!!

For example: the sex scene at the beginning of the film is...awkward, obviously simulated (something doesn't quite fit, a very strange angle indeed) and, improbable...young men - rarely - have the ability to last that long!!!

CUT!!!

But, no...unfortunately...it's all stretched out to the point of apathy...giving many opportunities...for a loo-break, cup of tea, a quick clean around the scullery...you'll miss nothing.

It's a road trip that goes to three (or four) places...the weird woman in the weird house - what was that all about?!? Needless and pointless.

All the actors do a credible job...amid the wholly annoying and intrusive soundtrack. But, the director obviously thought that he could get away with filming good-looking frolicking boys without including much in the way of content...it is sadly lacking in that department.

It's infuriating...it had all the necessary technical and performance requirements for a decent film. Sadly, let down by an auteur somewhat entrenched somewhere between his ass and a good kick...

However...the star of the show is the cinematographer...it is a veritable visual feast...pity it didn't taste very good.

The(ir) Blurb...

Jess is a bohemian youth with secrets to hide from his shrewd parents. James feels trapped living with his irritable mother. After meeting for a sexual encounter, the two young men set off on a spontaneous road trip across rural Argentina to reunite with Jess' estranged brother. On their journey, they confront strange occurrences and engage in a ménage à trois affair that brings them closer. Their newly found affection grows, all while discovering a fresh vision of freedom and happiness.

JESS & JAMES is a sexually charged road-trip movie, a love story, and a coming-of-age tale, set against the mythical landscape of the Argentinian Pampas.
