Four young queer Ugandans are struggling to survive in their home country. Remaining in Uganda, where religious oppression, discrimination and death threats against LGBT+ persons prevail, endangers their lives. Their last hope is to leave everything behind and experience a long and painful exile: they all flee to Switzerland. But here, other obstacles and exclusion await them, as the documentary impressively shows.
In close cooperation with Queer Amnesty International, the two directors look at the harrowing realities of life for queer refugees and give them a voice where the Swiss asylum system imposes further limits. Colla and Burri ask the questions, the protagonists and their perspectives have their say.
