CGiii Comment

"That kid of mine has been throwing me curve balls my whole life. But luckily, I played baseball."

Sit back. Relax. Prepare yourself...for a rather joyous, definitely fluid experience.

It won't change the world...but, it may open up a few rigid hearts and minds. Not bad for a cheap, little indie. What it lacks in budgetary terms, it makes up with a whole lot of integrity and talent.

Michelle Hendley steals the show with a gentle, stoic performance...proving - without doubt - that trans characters should be played by trans actors. This would have been a completely different and inferior film if an actor had to 'play' a trans-person convincingly. Thankfully, those concerns are swept away...

What we are left with is a bitterly-tinged, mostly-sweet story of love, family, friendship...and, the ability to adapt and accept.

It's nothing short of a radiant delight...it may be a little idealistic...but, who cares - we all need a little idealism to get us through the tough times...and this film will leave you with nothing but a great big infectious smile.

The trans-film phenomena continues, Boy Meets Girls stands head and shoulders above the vast majority of them all...because, it's happy!

The(ir) Blurb...

Funny and provocative, Boy Meets Girl vividly captures the giddy excitement, sexual heat, and inherent heartache of "non-traditional" love in a small town. Ricky (Michelle Hendley) is a 21-year-old trans girl living in Kentucky. Her only real friend, straight-laced Robby, has been her trusty, totally platonic, confidant for over 15 years. Her day job slinging lattes is merely a stepping-stone toward her goal of being a famous New York designer. She's confident, cool, and completely ready for something new-and then her world is transformed when an enchanting debutante saunters into her life. Triggering fresh feelings and experiences, this unlikely connection conjures up intense questions about identity while uncovering ghosts from Ricky's past.
