CGiii Comment

A small budget tackles some very big issues...with varying degrees of success.

Gay father, trans identity, domestic abuse, body dysmorphia, extreme homophobic violence, gay marriage, criminal justice et al...simply, too much for such a small film.

The writing veers towards schmaltz and sentimentality...a little too preachy in places.

There's no faulting the performances...each and all do a perfectly good job with what they have been given.

Some scenes don't work...the nightclub, especially...that's down to budget constraints. But, there is one standout scene...running through the rain. Quite beautiful.

By adopting the less-is-more approach - dropping some of the sub-plots - this little film could have been a stick of dynamite...the talent is there.

It is a lovely film...equally heartwarming and touching...it just needed a little more nurturing.

Unexpectedly, and right at this terrible time, Diego must take care of his son, Armando. Now, both of them have to adapt to each other; Armando to the unknown, homosexual world of his father, and Diego to the closed attitude of his teenage son.
