Chilling...

First, any film that kicks homophobic, hypocritical, religious institutions in the nuts...always gets a thumbs up from us.

Second...this film is in a league of its own.

The writing is a credit to the craft...every word has a reason for being...

The ensemble cast take those words and wring out the last very drop of emotion and meaning...the anger is palpable. As the tally of abusers increase, the chill-factor sky-rockets. It takes you from the cradling, cushioned chair to the bolt-upright, edge-of-the-seat.

Tucci's monologue should shatter any illusions you have about religious abuse.

Good catholics, just like the good Germans did, turned/turn/will turn a blind eye...until this shabby institution is dismantled and demonized.

Thank Gawd...for the freedom of the press, ne'er let it be lost...nor, taken fore granted.

Thank Gawd...for this film, ne'er let it be forgotten what evil these men are capable of...

Chilling.

The(ir) Blurb...

SPOTLIGHT tells the riveting true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe investigation that would rock the city and cause a crisis in one of the world's oldest and most trusted institutions. When the newspaper's tenacious "Spotlight" team of reporters delves into allegations of abuse in the Catholic Church, their year-long investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston's religious, legal, and government establishment, touching off a wave of revelations around the world. Directed by Academy Award-nominee Tom McCarthy, SPOTLIGHT is a tense investigative dramatic-thriller, tracing the steps to one of the biggest cover-ups in modern times.
