CGiii Comment

Is this Pedro's finest moment? It's certainly one of them.

Your heartstrings will be plucked and pulled apart by the agonising pain...of love, of friendship.

Here, Almodóvar has shown great restrain - his trademarks are present but diluted...the anxiety is pulled back, scaled down...without losing the intensity.

The story will sweep you off of your feet - the understated performances are involving...Camara's complex innocenct is an extraordinary character - he should be despised...but, you can't help but love the unloved.

Definitely, one of Pedro's finest moments.

The(ir) Blurb...

After a chance encounter at a theater, two men, Benigno and Marco, meet at a private clinic where Benigno works. Lydia, Marco's girlfriend and a bullfighter by profession, has been gored and is in a coma. It so happens that Benigno is looking after another woman in a coma, Alicia, a young ballet student. The lives of the four characters will flow in all directions, past, present and future, dragging all of them towards an unsuspected destiny.
