CGiii Comment

In Dragon Dilatation, Bertrand Mandico unites Petrouchka with La Déviante Comédie into two filmic essays. The first part is a rereading of Stravinsky's ballet, while the second segment is made up of traces of an unpublished performance of Dante’s masterpiece rehearsed at the Théâtre des Amandiers. This trippy, experimental drama fantasy employs a split screen to great effect. Look for a fantastical cast of characters, including some returning from past Mandico films, and astonishing set designs, but also lots of gore, absurdist humor, and other-worldly musical interludes.
