CGiii Comment

Ever heard the one about the TV series that caused quite a furore among the ruffled-feathered Snowflakes?

That series was called Insatiable - this Dumplin' is a watered-down version...less 'controversial' and just as entertaining...that is, if you enjoy the whole [totally bizarre, in this day and age] beauty pageant kind-of-thing.

Where Insatiable goes towards the 'dark, non-PC & [rather] macabre', Dumplin' rests - assuredly - within the light and fluffy. Both deliver the same message in different ways...why are these [wholly] ridiculous 'beauty' pageants still in existence!?!

They [the pageants] are nothing but a great big wallop, across the faces of feminists old and new! Yip, folks, it's true...there are [still] quite a few women - out there - who [still] love being ogled by men!

The current aesthetic is being driven by diversity, steered by an avalanche of Snowflakes...representation of all shapes & sizes, all creeds & colours, all sexualities, all [dis]abilities, all religions, [why not?] all proclivities! It's all gotten a little out-of-control!

Anne Fletcher's film swerves most of the controversies, relying on good old-fashioned story-telling...with quite a few drag queens to keep it colourful. Where would we all be without the goddess that is...Dolly Parton?!? Oooh is that politically incorrect...since actresses have become actors...does that mean goddesses have become gods!?! What about queens...what have they become?

Good grief, stop ranting...back to the film...it will make you laugh, it will make you shed a tear or two, it will - quite thoroughly - entertain. What more could you ask for? Positivity? By the bucket-load.

It could have been controversial...but, sometimes, pure escapism is as sweet as cherry dumpling...with lashings of custard...or, is that now known as crème anglaise!?!

Lap it up babies!
