It Happened In August is a romantic drama about Aim, a Thai immigrant. After dealing with the grief of her passed mother back home and losing her artistic dream, Aim and her younger brother move back to New York City. One evening in late August, as Aim is working at a Thai restaurant, Sandra, her ex-girlfriend, shows up unannounced. Sandra is now an actor coach. She hopes to rekindle their lovely old day and bring the light back to Aim's life. The two lovers shared a heartfelt past. Aim misses those great times but is responsible for caring for her family. After returning to her place that night, Aim has a moment to herself. She misses filmmaking and wants to enjoy her life entirely, which is what her mother wanted for her. Aim decides to take the first step toward fulfilling her happiness. She goes to Sandra's workshop. The two eyes meet across the room, and both know that this could be the start of something new.
