Zoe and Dan love each other. They live happily with Simon, their 10-year-old son, near Bruges. Even Zoe's mother has come to terms with the situation and now comes to visit her grandson. The arrival of new neighbors will upset this happiness. Humiliated by Max who calls him a "son of a queer dyke", Simon gradually turns his shame into hatred towards Dan, without which he would have had a real daddy.
