Snails in the Rain

The film is 72 minutes long...and, trots along at a snails-pace...hence, the title.

Mozer seems to be obsessed with masturbation, it features too often...but, the scene with the mutually masturbating soldiers is nothing short of ludicrous.

The whole film is ludicrous...Mozer insists on every character telling Boaz that he's handsome...as if we can't see that for ourselves.

In order to build the paranoia that Boaz begins to experience via some anonymous letters...we are treated to several lusty and/or leering close-ups of potential, dribbling, creepy candidates...but, it's the girlfriend who spots the 'look of a man in love'...their confrontation is bizarre...seriously, this is junk.

The underlying homophobia is so unpalatable that it seems that Mozer detests gay men and/or he is very unhappy in his own skin...whatever the case is...it's distinctly unpleasant.

With the gaping plot-holes, the atrocious supporting cast, the numerous redundant scenes, the inept direction & writing, Mozer's feature debut is nothing short of unremarkable...lacking in several keys departments: imagination, subtlety and vision.
