CGiii Comment

The rise and fall of a gay singer in Spain in the 40s...under Franco.

A good story...but, fairly predictable and uneven.

Most of the women are irritating caricatures...but, it's the over-dubbed musical numbers - they go on for far too long - slowing things down and eliciting a groan from the audience...here we go again.

Chávarri has no instinct for composition - he should learn to use the word 'cut' more often.

Not terrible...far from great.
