Series 2...

So...we've starting watching the second series. The big question is: Did it really need a second series?

We will soon find out!

Trailer...

Series 1...

The accumulation and culmination of problems in a young adult's life...that end with an abject and preventable tragedy. Her suicide.

No, we haven't ruined it for you...this is a heart-breaking analysis of a 17-year-old-in-turmoil...as told by the victim herself, retrospectively - through recordings she made, leading up to the point...when it all gets too much.

This is painful viewing...from so many persepectives, there's the young, upright man trying to make sense of it all...realising that he was part of it. The parents, the teachers, her friends, the lawyers all trying to make sense of an 'event' that can never make sense!

Her cries for help were just too quiet...although she thought she was screaming!

The beauty of this series lies in the editing...the timeline is distorted in order to recreate those 'instances' in her life that led to her death, we observe, she narrates...it's a very clever mechanism that keeps you on your toes...keeps you thoroughly engaged.

The whole story is held together by a mighty fine performance from Dylan Minnette...his confusion and hurt are palpable, his awkwardness - relatable. As for Katherine Langford, she captures -perfectly - the waxing and waning of Hannah's confidence.

We do have a few quibbles...practically every school kid was tattooed. The teachers seemed to be let off...especially the counsellor. One particular character needed definitive closure, the full force of the law thrown at him...but, that said, a second series has been announced...we wait with bated breath.
