Archangel

Country: Canada, Language: English, 90 mins

CGiii Comment

A surrealistic film which will leave you gasping for air - total and absolute rubbish, perhaps...but, you do get that certain feeling that the director already knows that vital piece of information and just carries on regardless.

Maddin seems to make films for fun and there can be no better way in having a good time.

Bizarre - and, funny for those who get the joke.

The(ir) Blurb...

Lt. John Boles, a one-legged soldier, is assisting the White Russians in the Russian Arctic during World War I. He finds himself in Archangel, a crystalline city of spires and domes, inhabited by some very confused people. Boles loves Iris, who is dead, and meets Veronkha, whom he mistakes for Iris. But Veronkha is already married to Philbin, who forgets he is married to Veronkha. Veronkha thinks Boles is Philbin.
