CGiii Comment

Drugs and kids - this is a two-pronged story, the girl and the gay-for-pay boyfriend.

It is a relentless dive into grime - and works well up until the withdrawal scene...

The mother simply vanishes, no reason given - a 14 year old girl with her boyfriend in her bedroom cradling the turkey half-clad - highly unlikely.

That point could have been the end of the film - and, it would have been a good place to stop...but, it continues with more pallid, morgue-like faces and the insides of putrid toilets.

It is repetitive and too long...but, for those that 'like' the drug genre - this is an early and partially successful example - still superior to most of its modern peers.

The(ir) Blurb...

This movie portrays the drug scene in Berlin in the 1970s, following tape recordings of Christiane F. 14-year-old Christiane lives with her mother and little sister in a typical multi-story apartment building in Berlin. She's fascinated by 'The Sound', a new disco with the most modern equipment. Although legally she's too young, she asks a friend to take her. There, she meets Detlef, who's in a clique where everybody's on drugs. Step by step she gets drawn deeper into the scene.
