CGiii Comment

The hypnotic progress of the voices of five women fills the sound dimension of the film, weaving the threads of a complex plot in which violence, justice, and death emerge: a woman reads tarot cards; the survivor of the Circeo Massacre, one of the most heinous episodes of patriarchal and fascist violence in Italian crime history, answers a journalist’s questions; a woman accused of the murder of four people is interrogated by magistrates; one woman tells of her relationship with death, while another seeks in religious practice an answer to violence. Archival footage, audio and video, creates a mysterious limbo, in which the boundary between the earthly and otherworldly is labile; the chorus of women’s voices becomes a guide to facing the darkness, bringing out, in different ways, the relationship to life through the discourse of death.
