Hamlet

Country: UK, Language: English, 242 mins

  • Director: Kenneth Branagh
  • Writer: William Shakespeare; Kenneth Branagh
  • Producer: David Barron

CGiii Comment

Without any shadow of doubt, Hamlet is a moody poof...

The first 20 minutes of this torturous epic are enough, the 'ghost' - call that a ghost!?!

...and, with the myriad of accents, you will be dizzily mystified in next to no time.

Jack Lemmon is utterly, utterly atrocious.

Robin Williams is utterly atrocious.

Derek Jacobi gives the only decent performance.

Branagh is all ham and ego...his theatricality is suited only for the stage - and, as director, his screaming [and obvious] self-love is utterly excruciating to watch.

Ooops...this just wasn't to be!
