The USP: 3D porn...and, in truth, the reason why the general public would pay this any attention.
The 3D gimmick is a nonsense...the editing is a curiosity...the film isn't as bad as they say.
This is a celebration of heterosexuality...with a few adventures thrown in to keep things interesting...a threesome, a bit of S&M and a rather pointless interlude with a trans hooker...there are those who have labeled this scene as transphobic...it is not.
Without the porn (and it is porn, not art), there is a story of a young man's self-imposed self-loathing...because, being a young man...he is ruled by his dick. Cue: a series of bad choices...and, silly decisions.
Love is about love and sex...and how both sexes interpret, compare and practice them. Infidelity is not infidelity when both partners are present...!
There are moments of sheer artistry...the soundtrack deserves an applause. The porn ought to have been deleted...apart from - perhaps - one scene...it would have made it more 'special' - but, sex isn't special, we all do it or want to do it...yet it is treated like it resides in Pandora's Box...well, Gaspar Noé has thrown open that door wide open...with style, grace and sensitivity.
Love is a surprise, Love is what you make of it.
