Maricruz's mother places her in the care of a local priest, Father Azarola, in the hopes the she would be cured of her homosexuality. Upon her imprisonment, Maricruz realizes Father Azarola is not the humble priest he presents himself to be. Permanently changed by his machinations, she breaks out of the hospital and fights to expose him.
