Pedagogue
- Director: Stuart Marshall
CGiii Comment
Performer and playwright Neil Bartlett plays an eccentric professor at Newcastle who, over the course of a hilarious interview, clumsily attempts to hide his homosexuality. The exaggerated testimonies of his students recount that the new professor's arrival has positively disrupted their lives, and identities of all friends and relatives within a twelve mile radius.
Made in response to Article 28, by which the British government banned the “promotion of homosexuality” in schools in 1988, this satirical short makes fun of the idea that homosexuality spreads like a contagious disease. Playing with the device of fake interviews and a malicious and irreverent tone, Stuart Marshall ridicules ignorance, prejudice and homophobia, delivering a scathing critique of the Conservative government of the time.
There was a trailer...but, it has since disappeared.
