The story of a young, constantly bullied boy who runs away in search of the mother he never knew might sound familiar, but Martin Krejcí’s moving, magical film gives this well-worn tale an unforgettable twist—its protagonist is a wolfboy. Kind, fur-covered outcast Paul (Jaeden Martell, IT, KNIVES OUT) is fed up with unanswered questions about his identity, despite the best efforts of his loving, supportive father (Chris Messina, SHARP OBJECTS, THE MINDY PROJECT), and decides to take matters into his own hands by embarking on a journey to find the truth.
Paul encounters a colorful cast of characters, including an eyepatch-wearing rebel and a circus ringmaster, and finds an unexpected kindred spirit in a young transgender songstress (Sophie Giannamore). Through his wild adventures, he ultimately learns the true meaning of friendship, family, and acceptance. Featuring powerful performances by Martell, Messina, and Giannamore and strong ensemble support from John Turturro, Chloë Sevigny, and Stephen McKinley Henderson, THE TRUE ADVENTURES OF WOLFBOY is a fantastically touching and metaphoric tale for audiences of all generations.
