CGiii Comment

We're Funny That Way (1998) is documentary-slash-comedy special that showcases the wisdom and talents of eleven comedians who have chosen to be 'out' about their sexual orientation to their audiences. My intention was to make a film that celebrates the power of laughter to heal, enlighten, confront prejudice, and reveal our shared humanity. The comedy festival of the same name was created for the film. This excerpt is from the beginning of the movie. I directed the film. Bruce Glawson was Executive Producer and Harry Sutherland was Producer. Maggie Cassella co-produced the festival with me for the filming, then kept the festival going as an annual event for 15 years.
