CGiii Comment

Three Doppelgängers meet in outer space to imagine diasporic and queer eco-feminist futures.

Doppelgängers3 draws on the experience of diasporas to challenge the commercialisation of the moon. Through encounters with doppelgängers and meetings with scientists, visionaries and cultural inventors, Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian and her doppelgängers offer an experimental vision and template for a future diaspora beyond Earth. How will human inhabitants of the moon understand origin, borders and nations? We now live in a world of space tourism, where 'colonizing' the moon has become a new reality. Can the experiences of the past help us imagine a future of space that is free from the traumas we are encountering on Earth? Can we avoid destruction when moving to alien territories? Through role-play, magic, encounters with doppelgängers and meetings with an extensive range of scientists, visionaries and cultural inventors, Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian and her doppelgängers offer an experimental vision and template for a future diaspora beyond Earth.

To prepare for this new utopian moon society, the doppelgängers go as close to the Moon as possible on Earth. They get locked in a deep cave in Spain, where astronauts are trained to live in close quarters and to explore the unpredictable and the unknown. But things do not go according to plan... A visual, sonic experience with music by Pussy Riot,Colin Self, Mirrored Fatality and Asmodessa.
