Handsome Devil is a beautiful thing...
There are great teachers, straight teachers, sad teachers, bad teachers...there are gay teachers...what 'we' wouldn't have given for a teacher like Dan Sherry...dead poets live again!
There are the pupils, gay or straight, bullied or bullish...the fighters and the frightened. And, if...they can keep their heads - through all the garbage that adolescence throws at them - they will become men!
Oooh...those stupid, thoughtless, idiotic things we say and do in the heat of the moment, clawed within the clutches of immaturity...Is Handsome Devil, John Butler's catharsis...?
If it is...then, rest assured, the burden has been lifted...for this is atonement. Unashamedly crowd-pleasing atonement!
Laugh, drop-your-jaw, cry, clap-your-hands...as the reverberations of your own schooldays unfold in front of your addled eyes...remembering the god, the goon and the geek...we had them all. There is an innate comfort in watching the familiar...expecting the expected, surprised when the expected comes true!
John Butler (with his cast) has/have dealt [us, the audience] a full-winning- house...massive talent always outshines a meagre budget...don't suppress your tears, don't suppress your cheers...this film will raise you to the roof...if you let it...let it!
