It is - quite simply - one of the best sitcoms ever written.
One minute you're laughing...the next, sobbing your heart out.
This is what comedy is all about, light and shade...in Mom, the shade takes you to some of the darkest places imaginable...and, watching the series as it has evolved, the shift-in-focus and character arcs are testament to all the talents behind the cameras.
Allison Janney steals the show...from the beginning, as ex-boozing, sometime bisexual Bonnie. And then after season 3, it really does become her show...her [recent] Oscar-winning success could be the un-making of Mom - we will wait, finger-crossed, for seasons 7, 8, 9...

Single mom Christy has her hands full with two children, Violet and Roscoe, and maintaining newfound sobriety, when her passive-aggressive, recovering-alcoholic mother re-enters the picture, brimming with criticisms about Christy's life. As the daughter works to be the best mother she can and to overcome mistakes she made, she must also navigate dysfunctional relationships with romantic interests, and with her irresponsible ex-husband, Baxter. Despite the uphill battle, Christy tries to remain positive and stay on a path to help her reach her goals.
