CGiii Comment

It does exactly as the title suggests…it goes absolutely nowhere.

This ought to have been a short film rather than a full blown feature - there's just not enough material to fill the 87 minute runtime.

There's also an incredible impertinence with regard to the story. A female friend is asked to marry his boyfriend so that he can remain in the country. When she refuses, she's demonised. Reducing it down to a financial transaction, she still refuses...and is vilified for her integrity.

That's one conflict, there are others and all are resolved without any of the expected drama. There are no surprises, very little in the way of emotion...it just trundles on and on without exploring the many avenues it could have done.

What this film so desperately needed was depth and confrontation. Without these ingredients, the long-term impression it leaves is - sadly - minimal.

The(ir) Blurb...

Adrian and Sebastian live an openly gay life in New York as Immigrants. When Sebastian's visa is rejected, the two must decide whether to return to Colombia where they face rejection and persecution for their sexual orientation or do whatever is necessary to stay in the United States. Either way, the thoughts and discussions associated with the decision will have a profound effect on the couple. Hitting upon hot button issues Nowhere places its characters within the context of the difficult immigration situation in the US and furthering a sense of homelessness and lack of belonging for the main protagonists.
