Apologies...the mere fact that this film is here, is an unavoidable spoiler...
Jay Reinke, a smalltown pastor, risks it all to help down-on-their-luck men by making his church and carpark into a refuge... he invites registered sex offenders to live in his family home. He - adamantly - defends and preaches his Christian philosophy.
A saint with sinister undertones?!? He is a little creepy. And, camp...despite having the - Betty Crocker - wife and three children.
This all-American town is not too happy with the mass migration of undesirable men...looking to make their fortune in the oil-rich state, living and littering on their doorsteps. They take matters into their own hands.
It's a compelling - albeit one-sided - story...of smalltown mentality, double standards and hypocrisy.
Nothing is mentioned about the corporation or the infrastructure behind the oil industry, the future benefits, the wealth - this is is the last-chance-saloon where recovery is never far from falling off the wagon.
It takes one to know one is turned on its head...it takes one to become one.
A devastating personal story.
