CGiii Comment

It Goes With the Shoes, tells the story of gay rights icon, Bette Bourne and a group of friends, performers & activists who took on the establishment with high heels and lipstick, playing a vital role in cracking open of society in the 70's & 80's. With camp wit and outrageous humour the film sheds light on a part of gay history: from the first meetings of the Gay Liberation Front, to the first mass gay protests in Europe, life in a gay drag commune and a European road trip with drag superstars, The Bloolips. Weaving actuality filming and interview with a specially shot theatrical performance and archive, the film paints a sometimes uproarious and sometimes moving portrait of an engaging and charismatic gay icon.
