CGiii Comment

Marshall, a Broadway heavyweight, and his cinematic debut.

It won 6 Oscars - best film but not best director...one day Hollywood will explain how a film can be the best without the director!?!

It's not a great film - Marshall is a little too cinematically inexperienced to direct this Fosse creation - he did do a version of Annie for TV...but, he did land an Oscar nomination for this, his debut feature!

It lacks the power of Cabaret - and the similarities are too obvious - however, he did manage to get some excellent performances...but, it all just misses the beat.

It really is unworthy of the accolades. But - watch it for the music.
