CGiii Comment

Twisted, tiresome, two-faced teens...and their chilling potential.

Hero-worship, unrequited love, spurned love, disloyalty, unfaithfulness...and hormones...a breeding ground for all sorts.

With a similar narrative as Van Sant's Elephant and the youthful collective of Clarke's Bully...Dusk is the cruelest addition to this genre...simply because of its accessibility.

Daanje's script is impressive, the young actors are exceptional and Smitsman brings it all together with a casual and believable cohesiveness.

Not pleasant...but, fine filmmaking.

The(ir) Blurb...

After a group of teenagers discover one of their friends lying dead on a river bank on one of the hottest days of summer, a story of jealousy, insecurity and peer pressure gradually unfolds. Group leader Caesar is able to magnify - out of all proportion - the small grievances that each of Jessie's friends bear towards her and transforms them into a general and pervasive hatred that leads ultimately to her horrible, senseless killing.
