CGiii Comment

Good ole Mississippi...not exactly the friendliest place in the world.

With a church on every corner...tourists are deafened by the bashing of bibles, residents are brainwashed by the bible-bashers...

It's a decent enough film...if you want to hear all that abomination stuff regurgitated over and over again.

The personal stories are horrible...but, once you've heard one...you've heard them all. Lance Bass is only in it for a minute or two - obviously his is the most interesting story...lost in the quagmire of the 'god still loves me' crowd.

Bullshit.

Haste ye not to Mississippi...you will emerge bruised & battered by bibles and banshees.

The(ir) Blurb...

In 2006, 'NSync's Lance Bass came out publicly as gay. Once the "most beloved son" of his home state of Mississippi, he was instantly rejected and his hopes that Mississippi could ever embrace change were dashed. Then in 2010 he heard the story of Constance McMillen, 18, who was suing her school for denying her the right to go to the prom with her girlfriend. Something was shifting even in the most socially conservative states in America. MISSISSIPPI: I AM, examines the relatively new battle on the part of primarily young LGBT people to bring gay civil rights and visibility out in the open and beyond division.
