CGiii Comment

Faultless...a word rarely used.

Complex...a word often avoided when it comes to film.

Villaronga...a named to be reckoned with - has assembled a remarkable cast with no weak links - a kaleidescope of characters, each deserving a film of their own. Yet, he manages to contain and condense a savage book into a savagely beautiful film.

To produce a story of such rich texture, takes an enviable skill...

Black Bread demonstrates the true power of words and pictures - without any cinematic gimmickery - the true horror of the human potential is pared down to its core.

Three words...faultless, complex...beautiful.

The(ir) Blurb...

In the harsh post-war years' Catalan countryside, Andreu, a child that belongs to the losing side, finds the corpses of a man and his son in the forest. The authorities want his father to be made responsible of the deaths, but Andreu tries to help his father by finding out who truly killed them. In this search, Andreu develops a moral consciousness against a world of adults fed by lies. In order to survive, he betrays his own roots and ends up finding out the monster that lives within him.
