CGiii Comment

Loving it..still loving it...what the hell happened?!?

The final third should be cut...or, do us a favour Ms Sciamma, explained.

Marieme's character arc is blistering (and deftly played)...from shy, bullied ingenue to fashion-conscious avenger to the drug-dealing hooker-look...to, inexplicably, boob-bounded man drag.

It's as if Sciamma realised (too late in the day) that she had forgotten to put in any lesbian-laden content, apart form the misandry...and, being true to herself, quickly rattled off a few scenes to appease her lesbian-absent guilt.

And, in the process, destroying what could have been a force to be reckoned with...

Agonisingly misjudged and frustratingly misguided.

The(ir) Blurb...

Oppressed by her family setting, dead-end school prospects and the boys law in the neighborhood, Marieme starts a new life after meeting a group of 3 free-spirited girls. She changes her name, her dress code, and quits school to be accepted in the gang, hoping that this will be a way to freedom.
