CGiii Comment

Maybe something is lost in translation - but, the first 25 minutes are a complete waste of time - doing nothing for the story whatsoever.

There are the ridiculous straight to camera introductions which are rather mind-boggling.

And then, it starts proper - with an inexplicable soundtrack.

This is a lesson in tedium, Capuano has little grasp with story-telling techniques, he spoon feeds irrelevance, insists of long, laboured preaching dialogue (lost in translation? perhaps).

The only thing that this film achieves is to show the hypocrisy Italians have for the Catholic church - perhaps, this was not the intention but it really does put many people in a very bad light.

As for the question: love or abuse? Capuano's talents are far too restricted as to even contemplate an answer.

A vile, clumsy, incompetent, overly long, disaster of a film.

With another director and writer at the helm this could have been a remarkable film - sadly, it is far from it.

But then...anything against the homophobic Catholic church is a welcome addition to the genre.
