Sal

Country: USA, Language: English, 85 mins

  • Director: James Franco
  • Writer: James Franco; Vince Jolivette
  • Producer: Caroline Aragon; Vince Jolivette

CGiii Comment

James Franco needs to re-consider his directorial output...because, none of it is any good.

This is a bore to watch...the last day of Sal Mineo's life - a man who was driven by ego and past successes who drifts downwards to where the mere mortals inhabit...there's nothing particularly tragic about 'Sal' - apart from the way Franco tells it.

Lauren fills practically every frame...which is rather unpleasant as 'Sal' comes across as a rather unpleasant character...there is no obvious reason as to why this film was even made...most (now) people have no idea who Sal Mineo was (James Dean is slowly being forgotten) and if Franco has any admiration for the man - a good enough reason to make the film...he certainly decided to keep it well hidden.

Not a pleasant way to spend time.
