CGiii Comment

What is there to be said about the most famous comedy double act in the history of cinema?

Well...Mr Baird's takes us behind the spotlight, after the Golden Years and into a twilight...with two elderly performers treading the boards to threadbare audiences...dreaming of an elusive, future [re-visited] glory.

This is reminiscence. This is nostalgia. This is a love letter between two men, their intimacy goes beyond any eye-brow raising subtext. They loved each other, it's as simple as that...and stated, without fuss, in one of the film's most tender and understated scenes.

Steve Coogan [as Stan] and John C. Reilly [as Ollie] capture their warmth, their bickering, their mutual respect with an alarming authenticity. These two actors worked hard to play these two iconic characters...and, it payed off! Not an expensive film in terms of budget...but, a wealth of talent has brought Stan & Ollie's story to back to life...with charm and sentiment and showcasing a wonderful friendship.

Quite, quite lovely...and, sad.
